PhD in Development and International Cooperation, Master in African Studies (School of Oriental and African Studies of University of London) and postgraduate in Applied Economy and Social Politics. José is currently working as Senior Technical Officer at CaLP Learning Partnership. José has more than 12 years of experience in International Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid combining academic and professional activity. He has worked as a technical coordinator, project manager and as an international consultant in food security/livelihoods, humanitarian assistance and Cash and Voucher Assistance for different organizations (Action Against Hunger, Spanish Red Cross/International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation AECID, and Farmacéuticos Mundi). He has field experience in Latin America, Middle East and Sub-saharan Africa. Besides, he is an expert in methodologies of social research applied to the international cooperation and humanitarian aid. He has participated in several researches and publications about migration and development. He has been as well professional trainer and lecturer in some university forums and guest lecturer in the Master Degree about International Cooperation of the University of Murcia (Spain).

Carlos has over 20 years of experience working in complex humanitarian situations such Afghanistan, Palestine, the Caucasus, the Horn of Africa or the Syrian refugee crisis. With an academic background on Development, his initial focus was in the area of Food and Economic Security. Yet, through his extensive work in the field with NGOs, the ICRC and ECHO he has developed technical expertise in other fields such Disaster Risk Reduction, Early Rehabilitation and Humanitarian Demining. In addition, as Programme Manager, he is used to deal with all areas of the project cycle. Currently, Carlos works full time for KALU as Head of Studies.
